Who do you turn to for fresh ideas to contain costs, improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience? Chicago Flower & Garden Show Director Tony Abruscato posed this question to trade show general contractor Mike Hogan from Show Biz America. Mike’s response: the experts at Edlen Electrical.
Challenge
The tradition of the Chicago Flower & Garden Show can be traced back to 1847 when it was created as an exhibition of prized fruits and flowers. Today the Chicago Flower & Garden Show is all about inspiring, educating and motivating the next generation of gardener.
Edlen’s own tradition of innovation began in 1975 when founder Lenny Swimmer decided to grow his temporary utility services company in Miami. Today Edlen serves the trade show, convention and special event industry through our corporate office in Las Vegas and network of branch offices across the United States.
Solution
The collaboration between Chicago Flower & Garden and Edlen took root one snowy morning in January 2018 when Chicago branch General Manager Matt Robertson and General Foreman Eddie Rosales met with Tony and Director of Operations Gabe Coronado. Together they mapped out a staggered delivery and installation schedule that ensured a smooth load-in and kept electrician labor costs in line. Additional cost savings were realized when Eddie proposed repurposing existing lighting installed by Edlen for another event held in the same venue (Navy Pier).
